Youth 4 Decent Work Awards

Ever wanted to attend an Oscar-style award ceremony? Youth Connect is doing just that with their film awards on the 3rd of March.

Every year Youth Connect hosts a video competition which challenges students to create a 3 minute video on a work based topic. This year’s topic was ‘Decent Work means a safe and healthy workplace for all’ in which students had to learn about health and safety in the workplace and use their creativity to create a video on the topic.

The top 20 videos have been short listed and will be judged a panel of experts. They’ll all be screened at the event after which a Best Film Award, Peoples Choice Award and various Category Awards will be handed out, with a fantastic prize of trip to New York for 5 days with friends up for grabs.

The event is scheduled to take place at 2:00pm on the 3rd of March at the Savoy theatre on O’Connell Street.

This is the competition’s third year running and previous years have yielded some truly unique videos on the topic of Income Inequality. You can check out the videos here.

All those that participated in this years event have been invited to attend the ceremony and bring along their friends and family for support.

If you missed the opportunity to participate in the competition then there’ll be another chance later this year around August to create your video for whichever topic Youth Connect chooses next. Next year in 2017 it could be you on stage accepting an award.
