What is Engineers Week?

Engineers Week is a week-long programme of nationwide events with the aim of celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland. The week aims to create a positive awareness and spark enthusiasm about the engineering profession to people of all ages, especially students and their teachers and parents.

Engineers Week is entering its tenth successive year. Engineers Week 2015 was the biggest and best Engineers Week yet, with 527 events across the country and a massive 37,500 participants.

The week is coordinated on a national basis by the STEPS team at Engineers Ireland.

Who organises Engineers Week?

Engineers Ireland’s STEPS programme was established in 2000 to encourage primary and post-primary students to explore the world of science and engineering. The value of the programme has been formally recognised by Government and is a key element of Science Foundation Ireland’s Discover programme. STEPS is managed by Engineers Ireland and is supported by the Department of Education and Skills, Science Foundation Ireland, and a number of major engineering employers.

Why get involved?
Participation in Engineers Week not only benefits the community, it also yields benefits for the individual engineer, the organisation, and the profession as a whole.
