Competition time! This time it’s with the Irish Wheel Chair Association Angels Campaign and is aimed at Transition Year students.
The Irish Wheelchair Association is look for creative Transition Year students to create original designs for their Angels Pins. The lucky winner will have their designs manufactured, produced and sold across the country to raise funds for the Association, as well as a Graphic Design internship. The deadline for the competition is 5:00pm on Monday the 29th of February. The Angels page on the IWA website has more details.
The designs themselves can be anything, a musician, a bus driver or whatever else that comes to mind.
Just one of the many fantastic Angles pin designs
Angels is the only national fundraising campaign for the Association and funds raised will go towards providing services that people with disabilities need in their homes, workplaces and school in their day to day lives. The campaign began in 2001 and will run for its fifteenth year in 2016, with last year being one of the most successful thanks to sponsors like Aldi and celebrities like Keith Duffy. There are over 70 pin designs currently in the collection and every year these are sold for €2 each by volunteers.
As well as the competition, you can help out by volunteering your time to sell the pins for just two hours on either the 5th or the 6th of November. You can also help organise an event dedicated to raising funds for the association in any way you choose, although the Association’s website gives some ideas like a Hot Chocolate Afternoon party. As well as all that, a donation would be greatly appreciated, just go here if you’d like to donate.
Best of luck to those competing and to the Irish Wheelchair Association in there fundraising campaign.
