Yesterday BellTime Magazine took some time out to visit Tallaghts’s Civic Centre where we along with students from PIPER HILL COLLEGE were treated to CYLONE REP’S PERFORMANCE & PRESENTATION OF KING LEAR. This year the company will be performing in 15 different venues across the country and also directly to schools. This year’s tour features four Shakespeare Sessions. For Senior Cycle the company is offering their new show “The King Lear Session Reboot” and last year’s much raved about, “The Hamlet Session”. For Junior Cycle,“The Merchant Session” and “The Romeo & Juliet Session” have been updated this tour).
CYCLONE REP HAVE NAILED IT ! Here’s a mobile Theatre company of talented young and youngish ?Actors and Actress’s who travel the country visiting schools and event centre’s performing plays from the school curriculum to secondary level Students and Teachers. Performed with the unique Cyclone Rep style of interactive humour and even “time-outs” for mid-performance question and answers with the audience of Students and Teachers (who it must be noted are currently studying the plays been performed as part of their Junior or Leaving cert exams syllables) I was struck by just how engrossed and involved this audience of teenagers from Piper Hill College really became during the performance, which has got to be said was rather brilliant and highly entertaining. After attending Cyclone Reps presentation of King Lear,I genuinely recommend that every second level school in the country should organize a day trip to one of their performances. Hugely Enjoyable: Educational and above all a massive encouragement to any student who would like to pursue their studies and indeed perhaps a career in The Art’s. Cyclone Rep provide an invaluable tool in aiding Students and indeed Teachers to better understand, learn and teach Drama and the great works of The Playwrights included in the curriculum.
Along with the classics CYCLONE REP also produce their own performances of plays and works of Drama which help the audience of all ages,Students & Teachers alike, tackle the big social issues, of our time, such as Social Inclusion, Bullying Prevention and Alcohol misuse.
This hugely successful “The Bullying Prevention Session” in both Primary & Secondary School versions will be touring the country and can be booked direct-to school
Cyclone Rep Sessions are entertaining and engaging student-centred performances. These daytime shows include a scholarly review clarifying the main themes and topics as well as discussions with the students and opportunities for participation.
